Try "Working for a Charity" http://www.workingforacharity.org.uk/ - it promotes the voluntary sector as a positive career option for those seeking paid employment in the sector. Even if you don't get paid and you work as a volunteer for a while, you can get some great experience and references that you can use in your job search.

I would also recommend that job seekers – especially in Europe – get a Xing profile as well. It’s really big in Germany and other countries altho not so much in the UK.

I am seeking to invest in a curriculum vitae that will position me for a change of career from IT to accountancy, resulting from the effects of an RTA in 2002, which ended my career. At the present time, I am unemployed and have been re-skilling for a career in accountancy since 2011 through the AAT. I am acutely aware that, despite my efforts, my CV does not do justice to my skill-set and experience, which has seen me performing consultancy, troubleshooting and training roles both internationally and within the UK, all qualities that any employer should place a high value upon irrespective of my part-qualified status within the accounting profession. I will be grateful for your advice.

I’m a CAD engineer and can say that I love my job in industrial design, creating detailed 3D models of buildings and producing photo-realistic 3D illustrations of architectural interiors, exteriors, products, and transport images. I use CAD and 3D software, so I’d like to add 3D artist and illustrator to your list.

Exactly – jobs in charity stores or in the head office are more rewarding than working for corporations. I’m not all about the money and want to work in a job that I’m proud of the work I do and of what the who organisation is trying to achieve.
